Working across cultures: benefits and challenges
Being fluent in a target foreign language alone is not always a guarantee to successful communication with people from other countries. To build a stronger relationship of trust with your partners, colleagues, guests or friends at home or abroad, it is crucial to learn the fundamentals of intercultural communication and go beyond language skills. This training will help you bridge the cultural gap and become more sensitive to others’ behaviour as well as give you the keys to understand essential verbal and non-verbal attitudes.
The course is divided into two parts: the first one covers the general concepts of culture and how it impacts our daily communication with others. The second part deals with more specific cases such as critical incidents that may arise when managing multicultural teams in a world of diversity and inclusion or working with people from the Arab world, for example.
Module 1: Working across cultures – benefits and challenges
Module 2: Managing multicultural teams in a world of diversity or Understanding Arab-Muslim cultural values and mindset
Type of session: Individual, group or couple.
Delivery mode: in person or online.
Duration: Half or full day workshops depending on your requirements and needs. Please get in touch to discuss your needs in detail and get a customised quoted proposal.
Living and Working with the French
Learning to speak French is a first step towards understanding the French mind, but not enough. You need to go into the depth of French culture to gain more insight into French humour, French greetings, the ‘Oui, mais…’ answer following a question or how vital huddling up with your colleagues (and boss) by the coffee machine in the workplace is!
The first part of this course deals with the general concepts of French culture, values and mindset and how this may impact your daily life. The second part deals with how to work with the French and what to expect in terms of professional attitudes and behaviour. We will look at some critical incidents that may occur due to different cultural codes of conduct in the workplace..
Module 1 (daily life): Living and Working with the French – so close and yet so far apart!
